Young Eisner Scholars

Young Eisner Scholars Twelve years ago Eric Eisner began searching for gifted children in the poorest outreaches of Los Angeles.

The goal was to excity them about the world outside their windowless classrooms. Today, Harvard, Columbia, UCLA and the finest schools in Los Angeles are home to near 200 children, once lost in a system ill-equipped to recognize or inspire them.

From sustainable agriculture to urban planning, education, and technology, YES Scholars at UC Davis are shaping the future of their communities and beyond.
Across disciplines like Plant Sciences, Community and Regional Development, Computer Science, and Political Science, our Scholars are turning knowledge into action. Many continue their journeys into graduate programs, from urban and regional planning at UCLA to teaching and leadership in classrooms across the country.
At UC Davis, YES Scholars are not only earning degrees but also building pathways that create lasting impact for the communities they come from and those they will serve.

Our middle school Scholars spent the day exploring Griffith Observatory, getting active, enjoying the beautiful weather, and taking a much-needed break from screens.
Days like this are such a reminder of how important connection, movement, and simply enjoying the moment can be!

YES LA middle and high school scholars took part in a hands-on rocketry launch with SCRA, launching rockets they built and prepped themselves 🚀
With guidance from our STEM Director and support from YES senior Roberto, students stepped into the field ready to put their work to the test. Nearly every rocket took flight, and even the challenges became part of the experience! Creating access to experiences like this is how we help level the playing field for students.
