Our teams continue returning to communities across Ukraine each month, and several volunteer openings still remain for upcoming 2026 deployments.

We are currently seeking providers, triage volunteers, trauma care counselors, and non medical team members for teams deploying in July, October, November, and December.

If you are interested in serving with Global Care Force, we would welcome a conversation.

A lot of these clinic days probably start to look similar from the outside over time.

People sitting in waiting rooms and hallways. Patients visiting with doctors and nurses. Teams unloading supplies and setting up for the day.

But that is also the reality on the ground. The need is still there month after month, and so are the teams continuing to return.

At this point, many of the patients are no longer strangers to us. Some recognize the teams when they walk in. Some we have now seen multiple times over the course of different deployments.

Today marks the beginning of Nurses Week.

We are grateful for the nurses who show up every day in hospitals, clinics, and communities around the world, and especially those who have served with Global Care Force.

In the field, nurses are often the first point of contact and the steady presence throughout the day. They triage, treat, listen, and care in ways that go far beyond what can be measured.

To every nurse who has served with GCF, and to those considering it, thank you.

Your work matters.

If you are a nurse and have ever considered serving, we would welcome you to take a closer look.

Most people think of primary care when they think of Global Care Force.

But in the field, we are seeing a growing need for something alongside it. Psychosocial and trauma informed care.

During our March deployment, one of our volunteers, Leanna, shared this:

“The first time I met her, she was exhausted and overwhelmed. The weight of the war, constant anxiety, and lack of sleep had become too much. She told me she was ready to give up.

We spent time talking about the effects of war and small ways to help her feel a little less anxious and maybe get some rest. By the time she left, she was breathing easier. I hoped the relief would continue.

This time, she walked in smiling. She introduced her granddaughter and said, ‘You know, you all saved my life. I was done with it all last time we talked.’

The war continues. Life is still uncertain. But she told us she no longer feels quite so alone and that has made a difference.”

This is something we are encountering more and more across our deployments.

These moments require time, trust, and the ability to sit with people where they are.

We are actively seeking clinicians and volunteers with experience in psychosocial and trauma informed care to join our July, October, November, and December teams.

If that is you, we would welcome you to serve. Apply here: https://gcforce.org/volunteer-opportunities/

Nadiia and Galyna 💛

Old friends, lifelong neighbors, and two of the most loyal patients we’ve met.

Since our very first visit to their village, they’ve been there every time. Ready, waiting, and with plenty to say.

They talked over each other the entire visit, laughing and making sure we heard everything.

“The doctors are kind, they listen, and they give good suggestions.”

High praise from two women who don’t hold back.

Both have lived here their entire lives through occupation, displacement, and uncertainty. One left and returned. The other stayed as her family fled for safety.

Now, this clinic is their primary access to care, and they make sure to never miss it.

When asked about the wait time, they laughed: “Even if it was long… we don’t have anywhere to rush.”

They rated their experience a 12 out of 5 and gave out hugs on their way out.

This is what trust looks like.

Lenna has lived in this village for 40 years. This is her third visit to a Global Care Force clinic.

She was especially glad to see Dr. James Marcum again. He remembered her, and in a place where so much has changed, that kind of continuity matters.

Lenna spoke warmly about the entire team and was grateful for the care and medicine she received, including support from Kate Sureck, a GCF volunteer pictured here. Even the short wait time made a difference.

She often tells others she’s “fine,” but she knows this care matters. She encouraged her neighbor to come too.

When she heard the team was returning, she didn’t hesitate. She’ll be back.

Team 36 is on the ground, continuing care, building trust, and showing up again.

Next month marks four years since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Even as talks continue, deadly attacks persist, and by spring total causalities are projected to reach nearly two million. Families continue to grieve for the loss of loved ones and the destruction of their communities.

Ukraine’s health care system has been shattered and recovery will take years. Even if the war were to end tomorrow, the need for medical volunteers would not.

Global Care Force will continue to stand with Ukraine—sending medical professionals wherever care is needed, for as long as it’s needed. If you have the skills to heal, Ukraine still needs you. Will you answer the call to serve?
