Veteran's Stand Down and Welcome Home: The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs and Veteran's Assistance Commission of Stephenson County will be hosing this event to provide veterans an opportunity to become aware of services and benefits available to them with an emphasis on Mental Health, Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. October 10, 2015 from 12-3 PM at Reed Park in Freeport. Tables and refreshments will be provided.

The Lena Memorial Day Parade has been cancelled due to rain. Please join us at the Le-Win high School at 10 AM for the Memorial Service instead.

The Lena American Legion will hold a Memorial Day breakfast from 7 to 9:30 a.m. May 25 at the Lena American Legion Home, 316 W. Main St. The breakfast will include scrambled eggs, French toast, biscuits with gravy, sausage ham, coffee cake, fruit, juice, milk and coffee. Participants are encouraged to eat and stay for a Memorial Day parade that will take place at 10 a.m.
Cost: $7; $4, ages 10 and younger. For information: 815-369-4213.

Lena American Legion Commander Bob Bussian and Past Commander Dave Trumble distributed Christmas presents to veterans in the Lena Living Center in Lena, IL. These presents are from "Gifts to the Yanks that Gave" Program and are made possible by donations from the American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion. Members of the Lena American Legion Auxiliary Unit 577 wrapped the presents at their last meeting.
