In the US, 59 million adults struggle with basic literacy skills. Who are they? The truth is, low literacy looks like your neighbor, your waiter, your friend at church, or another parent at back-to-school night. Empowering adults with literacy and education makes communities stronger and more sustainable in every way—economically, civically, and socially. CPLC is a member of ProLiteracy and depends on their grant program to provide free tutoring to adults in our community who want to improve their English skills and the quality of their lives.

📢 ProLiteracy joins the call asking the Office of Management and Budget to release the promised $729 million in adult education grants that were withheld July 1. The social and economic strength of our communities relies on quality adult education programs that set adults on new paths toward family-sustaining wages, better health outcomes, and self-efficacy. Without this funding, access to adult education will become limited or non-existent in many areas, which will be detrimental to our collective future.
☎️ Call your Congressional lawmakers now to advocate for the release of funding for the Adult Education State Grants and Integrated English Literacy and Civics Education (IELCE): https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative
