One of Our Whys...

In 2001, Matt Bunch was preparing to leave Avenal for UC Berkeley when Welcome Lodge No. 255, through the Avenal-Coalinga Scholarship Committee, awarded him a $1,500 scholarship.

Twenty-five years later, Matt reached out to say thank you.

He shared that the scholarship made a tremendous difference in his life and that he still remembers the support he received from the lodge. Even more meaningful, Matt is now a candidate for the degrees at Sacramento Lodge No. 40.

That is one of our whys.

A scholarship is never just a check. It is a vote of confidence. It is a reminder to a young person that their community sees them, believes in them, and is willing to invest in their future. Sometimes, that support is remembered not just for a season, but for a lifetime.

That spirit continues today.

This year, Welcome Lodge No. 255 proudly awarded 10 scholarships to deserving students from our surrounding communities.

June 5, 2026 Stated Meeting

Welcome Lodge No. 255 extends our sincere thanks to Sisters Peggy Denison and Julie Duty for joining us and for presenting a meaningful new community project: Brady’s K9 Fund.

This campaign seeks to help provide LOF Defence Systems K9 StreetFighter lightweight ballistic vests for Police K9s, with a special focus on supporting Lemoore PD and potentially neighboring agencies as well.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn more about this important cause and explore ways our Lodge can collaborate in service to those who protect and serve our communities, both officers and their loyal K9 partners.

We also extend our appreciation to Round Ashlar for the beautifully detailed custom Masonic Navy Chief Apron presented to Roskin Metra, PM, and to Brother Eric Salonga for the custom trowels.

Another successful event is officially on the books!

Welcome Lodge No.255 F&AM and Hanford Masonic Lodge No 279 F&A M came together for our Joint Lodge Annual Picnic, and it was a wonderful day filled with delicious food, fun games, laughter, family, friendship, and true Masonic fellowship.

A heartfelt thank you to all the brothers, ladies, families, and friends of both Lodges who helped make this event such a success. Special thanks to Brother Jeffrey Tortona for his leadership and coordination, and to everyone who cooked, served, set up, cleaned up, participated, and showed up in support.

Days like this remind us that our fraternity is strengthened not only in the Lodge room, but also through the bonds we build with one another and our families.
