The District 12 4‐H Shooting Sports Smallbore Rifle 3-P and Silhouette Match will be held on April 25, 2026, at the Duval Shooting Complex in Benavides. This event serves as the Texas 4-H Roundup Rifle Match Qualifier for the 3-P match.
Event Registration ‐ Registration for this event will be open to all counties in District 12, with no limit on how many 4‐H members can register from their county. Registration will take place on 4‐H Online and must be done by individual 4‐H members. Coaches will not be able to register members, unlike the Postal League. Registration will open on March 16th with a deadline of April 10th at $30 for one event or $50 for both events.
There will not be a late registration period or on-site registration. NO REFUNDS will be given to a county and/or individual. This makes it very important for registrations to be correct. Payment is due prior to the event date. Please note, once you submit your registration for approval, you are agreeing to fulfill payment for registration regardless of whether or not you attend this event. If you have a balance with Texas 4-H or District 12 4-H on 4-H Online, you will not be allowed to participate until the balance is paid IN FULL.
3-P Match Information – Standard Texas 4‐H 3‐P Indoor Rifle Rules (v2024) apply except as noted on the District 12 4‐H Smallbore 3-P Guiding Principles. NEW! The Guiding Principles have been updated to reflect the State 4-H Rules. Please note, if there is an error, please ask for clarification as some changes have been made due to the contest resources and space. Below are some important details to note about the Rifle Match that may not be in the rules but are important to share with shooters and coaches.
3 Age Divisions (Junior, Intermediate, Senior)

Junior – Prone (3 targets)
Intermediate – Prone (1 target), Standing (1 target), Kneeling (1 target)
Senior ‐ Prone (2 targets), Standing (2 targets), Kneeling (2 targets)
All rifles must always remain in a case with an OBI (open‐bolt indicator) until instructed by range officer to uncase rifles. One rifle per case. The muzzle end of the case should be marked.
Kneeling for Intermediates & Seniors cannot be substituted with sitting. While sitting is an alternative in training resources, shooters must compete using the kneeling position for this event.
Intermediates and Seniors will shoot targets in the following order: Prone, Standing, and Kneeling

Schedule – District 12 will be looking at two different check in/rifle checks in the AM and PM for contestants. For this purpose of being NEW to the 2026 contest, the District 12 Office will release a schedule after the registration deadline. This schedule will be communicated to the District 12 County Extension Agents for them to share with their appropriate coaches. A copy of the schedule will also be published to the District 12 4-H Website.

Match Awards will be held at the conclusion of the Rifle Match.
Again, this schedule is for contestants, coaches, and agents to have an idea of how the match will run. An official schedule will be released to County Extension Agents for them to share with coaches and contestants AFTER the deadline. Match Schedule will include scheduled relays in county groups, “Shoot & Go”, and an awards presentation at the conclusion. Changes will be communicated at the earliest opportunity.
Rifle Checks – Please note that all rifle equipment, safety equipment and shooting clothing can be checked during this time. Review the Texas 4-H Rules and District 12 4-H rules to make sure you are following proper protocols. Participants can be disqualified if not following proper dress code, safety guidelines, or proper rifle equipment during rifle checks or while on the shooting line.
NEW! A remind group will be created for the day of the event. The intention behind the Remind Group is to provide communication for updates or changes throughout the District 12 Rifle Match on the day of the contest. Please keep in mind, if you have questions throughout the day or before the event, please contact your County Extension Agent.
Location & Facilities – The Duval Shooting Complex will host both Rifle Matches. Participants are welcome/encouraged to bring their own food/refreshments as there will not be concessions available. It is important to note that there is no running water or electricity at the facility, however, portable restrooms will be available. Participants are welcome to bring RV’s (plenty of space) but there are no hookups for electricity, water, or waste. You are welcome to bring your own power supply. If you plan to bring a camper, please confirm with your County Extension for more information. Participants are also encouraged to bring their own shade (canopies) and chairs. All canopies must be properly and adequately secured to avoid safety issues.
