The Dyslexic Renaissance: A Paradigm Of Opportunity. July 7th, 2-4PM at the Leland Public Schools Performing Arts Center.

For more than a century, students with dyslexia have been relegated to the sidelines of academia. Locked out by the primacy of text-based learning, dyslexics have internalized the failure of a constrained educational system, resulting in their mass incarceration, underemployment, and addiction.

A new age of dyslexia is upon us. The proliferation of EdTech, an emphasis on social-emotional learning, and a global marketplace that demands ingenuity have begun to level the playing field for individuals with dyslexia. Dean shares his personal journey and illustrates how highlighting the cognitive advantages of dyslexia and students' emotional development will empower the individual and benefit society at large.

Dean Bragonier is Founder and Executive Dyslexic of NoticeAbility. Bodhi, his son, was the inspiration behind NoticeAbility. Dean and Bodhi frequently speak publicly about dyslexia and its cognitive advantage.

The 2022 Leelanau Summinars season kicks off tomorrow, July 5th, from 2-4PM at the Leland Public School's Visual Arts Center.

Ellie Johnson, the Conservation District forester for Leelanau, Benzie, and Grand Traverse counties, is coming to Leland to discuss some of the invasive and native threats faced by Northern Michigan forests. Topics will include climate change, oak wilt and other abiotic stressors, site selection for planting trees, and invasive pests such as hemlock woolly adelgid, beech bark disease, and Asian longhorned beetle. Handouts on the various topics will be provided, and there will be a Q&A section at the end.

We are very excited to announce the return of the Leelanau Summinars! The 2022 season will feature 15 Summinars, beginning on July 5th, 2022. All Summinars will be held in the Performing Arts Center at the Leland Public School this year (not at the Old Art Building).
