On Saturday, January 24th we hosted our annual deer field trial here at Grassy Branch! We monitored the weather closely throughout the week and were extremely blessed to only be hit with cold and windy weather. Past hunts it rained and/or snowed, but we were blessed this time around. I want to thank everyone for coming out to support our hunting club! Thank you to all the club members and friends who came out and spend this cold day judging hounds! Thank you to everyone for all the help!
Thank you to those who sponsored this hunt: Brett Cumber with A to Z Rentals for the light tower, Jacob at Southport Ace Hardware for the Garmins as well as Scotts Farm and Family of Leland for the Garmins! Thank you to Chad Sellers with BOCO maintenance for the Sexton Brothers Dog food we were able to hand back to the top 10!
Thank you to the club for all the help from registration, bringing out cakes, handling breakfast and lunch and more!! The day couldn't have happened without the help!
We handed back a couple in club awards to some well deserving members:
Congratulations to Howard Meshaw for winning the Lee "P*e Wee" Wescott Lifetime Achievement award named after one of the original members back when it was called Monks Branch!
Congratulations to Dane Sellers and Cameron Kelly for winning the sportsmanship award for their continued dedication to the club! It has been a delight watching these young men grow up in this club and the roles they have taken on. They have become excellent representatives for the club and amazing club members/family!
Congratulations to Eric Britt for winning big buck award this year! Hard to beat a still hunter!
Congratulations to Cailynn "KK" for winning the youth hunter award! I remebered after the hunt, the dog she makes sure comes home every day is her JoJo!
Congratulations to those who got their first deer this year: Nova Howard, Caleb Britt, Caleb Price and Luke Neville!
Thank you again to everyone for all the help this year! We are truly blessed to still be able to do what we enjoy and I hope to continue to do this for years to come!
Congratulations to those who placed and I hope to see everyone next year!
