A message form our President - “ On the night March 24, 2023 a tragic weather tragedy struck the town of Rolling Fork, Silver City, Amory, Winona, and surrounding areas. That night I went out as a first responder. I visited both Silver City and Rolling Fork. The damage done to these two areas is unimaginable. Due to the circumstances the LYLC meeting scheduled for today was canceled, however, Sponsor Nancy Jo King, other council members, and myself agree that we should do our part as public servants. The Leland Youth Leadership Council will now be accepting donations for the surrounding community. Toiletries, toys, pillows, sheets, blankets, clothes, shoes, etc.. Just about anything you think of is needed, these people have lost everything. In an email from my Rotary District Governor, Mark DiBiase, he explained that there are 3 steps in response to a disaster, Response, Recovery, Rebuild. Let’s help do our part in responding to this tragedy… so we can help the communities recovery from this tragedy, and rebuild our surrounding community’s strength, love, and hope. To donate please contact Nancy Jo King, other council members you may know, or myself. Our contact info will be listed below. Thank you for you support and love.”

Good morning, we hope all are safe and doing well. As we observe these extreme temperatures we would like to remind everyone that while you are wrapping up your faucets and protecting them from the harsh cold, to do the same with your pets. Although they have fur, it is still too cold outside for them. If they must stay outside be sure that they have a dry warm place to rest in. Hay works pretty well with animals. We hope everyone has a safe and warm Christmas 🎄.

Sincerely,

Your Favorite Youth Leadership Council🎄

A message from our President: “Good evening, you may or may not have power in your homes at the moment. We understand the frustration but we would like to take this time to shed light on our amazing city employees who are working tirelessly to keep our city running through this storm, and our great alderpersons that are keeping fast and steady updates to each ward. We also would like to shed light on to our Mayor who is out working with the city workers tonight trying to help keep our city running. Great examples of leadership through out our community. We hope that everyone stays safe and has a blessed night.”

Sincerely,
On behalf of your Leland Youth Leadership Council, Jacob Venuti

This morning the Leland Youth Leadership Council conducted a “creek clean up” in preparation for Christmas on Deer Creek which is December 3rd!! We were also delighted to be joined by some generous volunteers, thank you to the Sterling family for helping us!

President Jacob Venuti commented that he thinks a monthly creek cleanup would be something good for the community. “I think that each month we will select a couple of council members each month to clean up different portions of the creek in order to keep our great town beautiful and our wildlife that inhabits the creek safe” said Jacob.

Be sure to stop by our tent on Christmas on the creek for a hot cup of hot chocolate for $1, write a letter to Santa, and get washable Christmas tattoos!
