Our Homemaker open house and Cultural Arts contest was a homerun! Everyone had fun playing games and munching tailgate treats. Clubs and Educational chairmen teamed up to create booths where information was available to learn more about various volunteer opportunities. Cultural Arts were displayed which showcased Homemakers many talents. If you missed out, there is still time to join the Homemakers team! Call the Extension Office for more details. Hooray for KEHA!

Leann Mudd delivered September's Community Connections donations from the GC Homemakers to the LARC (Leitchfield Addiction Recovery Center). They were overwhelmed at the giving. Thank you to everyone for the heartfelt sharing.

It's time for a new community connection! This month, we are collecting items to be used to create beautiful Christmas ornaments for our local nursing homes. Closer to Christmas, we will announce a workday where Homemaker Volunteers will put together ornaments from all donated items. Items needed are: Christmas cards and decorations, and used mason jar rings.

To operate in accordance with our Homemaker values of reusing and recycling, please only donate used mason jar rings and any Christmas cards or decor that you already own and no longer need.

Short Creek Club ladies attended the annual Golden Years at the Hardin Co Extension Office. Baptist Health provided free screenings, resources from others were available and a nice lunch was provided. Presenter, Dr. Iqbal spoke on Dementia, its various kinds, diagnosis, and ways to modify risk factors. Dr. Muceniece reminded us that transitioning into retirement can be life-changing and to have structure in our lives, to see we have a purpose, and to intentionally build relationships. Mr. Humphries explained the many updates in tax laws for inheritance and how we now have to adjust our estate planning to including digital assets with our changing world. If you've never attended, it is a great resource!
