I've received a few messages asking how to help after a loss to su***de. I've given this much thought, but first let me say out of respect for families, those affected and those we've lost, I just want to be clear that this is not about any individual and or family directly. I am just passing along in general information I hope those with these types of questions, will find helpful.

First and foremost, gossip and or rumors are hurtful to the family and friends who have suffered a loss. It's just not helpful and the last thing people grieving should have to do is combat idle chatter. Don't be afraid to remind others of this.

Offer support and your condolences...do not ask for details. This is also very hurtful, it serves no one prompting hurting people to relive something that has tragically altered their entire life.

When someone young tragically passes (Personally I think this should be across the board regardless of how they passed) talk to your children. Let them know that rumors and gossip are hurtful to those grieving.

Not everyone experiences grief and loss the same. Some people will want to talk about their loss, some won't and there is no right or wrong way to grieve. The best thing we can do is give people their space and ability to do whatever it is they need to, to heal, and just be supportive.
