Happy Nonprofit Week, Grayson County!
Since Judge Executive Kevin Henderson signed the proclamation recognizing the nonprofits serving this county, we figured this was a good week to introduce ourselves to anyone who hasn't met us yet.
We're the Twin Lakes Skatepark Project. We're a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, organized in July 2024, and we're working to build a permanent, professional-grade concrete skatepark in Grayson County. Not a temporary setup. Not a couple of ramps in a parking lot. A real park that's built to last and free for everyone to use.
Every person involved is a volunteer. Nobody here draws a paycheck. We're parents, skaters, riders, and neighbors who got tired of watching kids drive an hour to the nearest park and decided to do something about it. Being a 501(c)(3) means we answer to a board, we keep our books straight, and every dollar donated is tax deductible and goes straight into this project.
Our motto is "Unity Through Community," and we mean it. This park gets built because people in Grayson County decide it should exist. This week honors every nonprofit in our county, and there are a lot of good ones doing hard work. We're proud to be counted among them!
