Follow-up from tonight's Park and Rec meeting (these were my notes as I understood what was said):
- The town has worked hard to get grants to do work at Towtaid Park. There is a "Shared Winter Streets" grant (est. $140K) that will create sidewalks, curbs, loom, etc. It will be going out to bid and has to be completed by the end of May.
- There is another grant "Parks Grant", that was $66K. This will be for the basketball and handball courts as well as fencing around the park. This one does not begin to see actual funding until the close of FY21. We would see construction on this estimated July 2022.
- KABOOM Grant - this was fulfilled with the new playground.
- There is an annual $25K that is already appropriated (and I believe ear-marked) to the town by the Cultivate agreement.
That was the update for Towtaid Park! We have seen huge improvements in that park and the plans to make it even better are exciting to watch. Thank you to the people that started working on this project initially, thank you to those that have cleaned up the park with me over the years, and thank you to the people that have worked alongside and continued to make improvements to the park for the community of Leicester!
