Zion Opera Workshop ZOW is the oldest theater group in Lehighton, PA. We put on a Broadway musical each spring. In this case they are on the 27th.)

Our 2026 show, "State Fair" will be performed on March 5th, 6th, and 7th! Zion Opera Workshop (ZOW) has been around since 1970, when the youth choir at Zion United Church of Christ put on a production of "Amahl and the Night Visitors" for Christmas. The original members invited friends to join the organization and it grew from there. What began as a group intended strictly for high school students now contains adults of all ages, from 9th grade on up! Children and even grandchildren of the original cast have now joined the group. We try our best to make the group more like a family, and have events almost every month, even in the "off-season." In 2013, we began what we hope to be an annual event, a Broadway Revue in the Lehighton Amphitheater, and intend to continue making an impact in Lehighton and surrounding communities in the future. Auditions are held for those 9th grade and older each year on December 26th (unless this date happens to fall on a Sunday. And the show is performed during the first week of March (Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday Matinee, and Saturday Night).

Hi everyone! I know this is later than usual to get out the message but I was waiting on some details before I sent this. This Saturday is our NYC trip and I hope you’re all excited! Please plan to meet at Zion UCC by 7:30 AM. I’ve been told the bus may get there closer to 7:45, so we don’t want to waste too much time getting loaded up, as the goal is to leave by 8. I believe we will probably be dropped off near Bryant Park as usual. You will have some time to explore and get lunch before the show at 2pm. The Lost Boys location is at The Palace Theater (160 W 47th St) and I hear the show is visually amazing. We will probably have about an hour after the show to grab a quick meal or snack before meeting the bus around 5:30ish.

Hello! This is a SHOT IN THE DARK! ZOW is able to keep our productions as reasonable as possible. Our shows have been $10.00 for many years. The reason we can do this is we keep, recycle and renew our set pieces and costumes. Unfortunately our racks are not 2 feet from the ceiling of the room we’ve been given to store our items and they need to be. If anyone has any storage space they could “donate” that we could store our costumes (some are invaluable to us!). We generally need access from December to May. We are currently boxing some things but that doesn’t work for everything. Climate control is not a concern as it is mostly clothing! Thanks in advance! Feel free to share!
