The Court street entrance and exit of the Union hill cemetery is now open with the snow removed from that road access. By cemetery staff today. It is still enter at your own risk but it is passable please be careful of ice that may be on the roadways they weren't treated with salt or cinders they were just plowed open and blown open. But currently there are 3 ways of easement to access the Union Hill cemetery in Franklin twp. 2 entrance and exit points on and off of Union hill road. And 1 access on to Court street.

Thanks to Christine Arieta Mccaa for sharing this winter photo of the Union hill cemetery.

Due too winter storm Orlena that hit us with a ton of white snow we have tried are best to keep the cemetery roads accessible. However they are not the best it is enter at your own risk at this point. If you have 4x4 you shouldn't have a problem but I wouldn't recommend it with any type of car. You will get stuck the only road open into the cemetery is the middle road off of Union hill road and the exit is the lower road back on to Union hill road. Court street access is currently temporarily closed at the moment with the abundance of snow and drifting it was impossible to open with the plow truck. And snow blower it's just too heavy to move for both pieces of equipment.

Thanks for understanding
President of U.H.C.Association.

I hate to have to be the guy that has too say this but.
Here it is

The Rules to the Union hill cemetery in lehighton, pa. Located at 140 union hill road.

Cemetery opens at 8am. It closes at 5pm. These are the Winter hours due to vandalism in the past we had to set times due to this.
Summer hours will be set at a later time.

Everyone should be off the property by these times and no one should be on the property before 8am.
The cemetery is patrolled by local police.

All holiday decorations will be removed from graves by staff after 30 days of that holiday. This is a gracious time we believe for the decorations most other cemeteries remove after 7 days. If you don't like the 30 day rule then don't bother to decorate graves.

Any on going projects that are started by the Association are started to benefit the cemetery if we have something flagged, marked, or roped off it was done for a reason. If there is a pile of dirt it was placed there for a upcoming job it wasn't placed there deliberate if you remove anything without the proper permission from the grounds the police will be called you will be arrested this constitutes stealing from the cemetery.

If the American flag was lowered at half mass it was lowered for a specific reason for whatever time frame is necessary. It is not up to you visiting our cemetery to even touch the American flag.

If you walk your dog in here cleanup after your dogs mess.

Absolutely no ATV, GoKarts, Dirtbikes, or Snowmobiles, on the property.

Bottom line come visit pay your respects and leave the place exactly the way it was when you arrived.

Anything else will involve having the police contacted. We are done dealing with the ignorance of people.

Thanks the
As***le U.H.C.A president.

Ps. I'm done being Mr. Nice Guy

We've been busy here at Union hill cemetery clearing cutting brush and dropping trees to make it a more pristine place of rest. And there will be a few more trees to be dropped in the next few days. In the mean time we have alot of branches to be cleaned up. If anyone has a wood chipper and wouldn't mind chipping branches up for us we would welcome that you may have the chippings for yourself to use as a mulch we just need them our of the cemetery. There is also alot of logs from the trees available great for backyard patio fires or camp fires since camping season is only a few months away they are also free for the taking. If you want we ask for a small donation for the fire logs since we are a nonprofit organization trying to keep the cemetery going and beautiful no one here gets paid for there time it's all Volunteer help so any little money we get greatly helps us out to keep it looking beautiful and or chances of survival in these difficult times. The logs are stacked and or on a honor system donations can be placed in a metal box at the tool shed. Some logs are heavy so please bring help with you to load them. " and all trees and logs were cut & stacked in a socially distant way to help combat the spread of covid19".
