The Ministry of the Interior signs an international agreement to strengthen the fight against human trafficking.

The Minister of the Interior, Enrique Riera Escudero, signs a framework cooperation agreement with the Red Rock Foundation, represented by Matthew Norman Cooper, who is accompanied by Timothy Ballard and an international delegation. The event takes place as part of the agenda of the National Program for the Prevention, Combating, and Assistance of Victims of Human Trafficking and is attended by the deputy ministers and directors general of the Ministry of the Interior.

The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation aimed at developing programs, projects, and joint actions to strengthen the prevention of, the fight against, and assistance to victims of human trafficking. The signing of the agreement consolidates an international cooperation partnership to strengthen the State's capacities in combating this crime.

The job offer looked real. The opportunity sounded life-changing. But once they arrived, their freedom disappeared.

Around the world, people are being trafficked into scam compounds and forced to carry out online fraud under threats, surveillance, debt, and violence.

This is known as trafficking for forced criminality.

The 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons theme, “Trapped Behind the Scam,” asks us to recognize the hidden human cost behind some online fraud operations.

Not every person committing a scam is trafficked. But some victims are being forced to deceive others while living under fear and control.

Awareness helps people recognize fraudulent recruitment. Compassion helps us identify victims without judgment. Cooperation helps dismantle the networks exploiting them.

Summer travel creates memories children can carry for a lifetime.

But before the airport, the hotel, the road trip, or the crowded event, parents and guardians can take a few simple steps to help their children feel safe and prepared.

Talk with your child before you leave. Choose a meeting point together. Make sure they know your name and phone number. Point out safe helpers like airport staff, security, or event workers. When appropriate, share location with trusted family members or travel companions.

These conversations do not have to feel scary.
They can feel loving, calm, and empowering.

Because awareness is not fear.
It is one way parents protect what matters most.

Ahead of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons on July 30, TBF Rescue is joining the global awareness effort led by the UNODC - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The 2026 theme, “Trapped behind the scam,” reveals a hidden reality: behind some online scams is a person whose freedom has been stolen.

People can be recruited through deceptive job offers and then forced to carry out fraud under coercion, violence, and fear. Those forced into criminal activity can also be victims of human trafficking. They deserve to be seen, protected, and treated with dignity.
