In response to recent developments regarding the Alpine School District Board’s decision to move up their meeting to Tuesday, April 30th, at 8:00 a.m. to vote on split options, the Lehi City Council will have an emergency session today at 2:00 p.m. to discuss initiating the Interlocal Agreement Process for forming a new school district.
It's crucial to highlight that this meeting marks the initial step in a comprehensive process that demands thorough examination. Several cities within the Alpine School District will also vote to commence the process agreement. This signifies the outset of a lengthy process aimed at determining whether these cities will collaborate to place the proposal on the ballot for voting this November. Each city will undergo a 45-day public comment period and conduct at least two public hearings. Following this period, the legislative bodies of the Interlocal Agreement will vote on whether to establish a new school district.
Today, the City Council will not vote to decide on the formation of new school districts; instead, we will vote to kickstart the process and explore our options. We encourage all residents to actively engage in the forthcoming public comment periods and hearings. Your input is crucial in shaping the future of our educational landscape.
