The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 145 recently made a donation of food items and Market Basket Gift Cards to the Fort Polk Main Chapel Food Pantry.
What a blessing it was for our members to contribute to those in need. The recipients were very appreciative, and it was heartwarming to see how well the food pantry is set up—organized and ready to serve families during difficult times.
We never know when hard times may fall upon us, and sometimes we all need that extra bit of help. I am truly thankful that food pantries exist to provide support, and proud that our Auxiliary Unit 145 was able to play a part in helping.
This food pantry is located on Fort Polk, LA.

We at the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 145 extend our heartfelt thanks to Tidbits & Tackle for graciously allowing us to place a donation box for the Fort Polk Main Chapel Food Pantry inside their Anacoco store.

Ryan Park of Tidbits & Tackle and Janice Friend of the Auxiliary partnered to bring this opportunity to the community.

As the holidays approach—and with the recent government shutdown affecting many—our military families need our support more than ever.
Please stop by, drop off a donation, and help us restock the pantry for those who serve.

🎁 CASA Holiday Donation Drive Proposal 🎄

I'd like to set up donation boxes in the bingo hall and canteen to collect items for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), pending approval from Commanders and Jodi. While we already contribute monetarily, having physical items to donate would be a meaningful addition this holiday season.

✅ I've reached out to CASA for a list of suggested donation items. ✅ I’ve found four sturdy boxes at work that I’ll wrap in festive Christmas paper. ✅ Once I speak with Earl and Jodi, I’ll place the boxes on tables with a flyer explaining the purpose of the drive and listing the requested items.

This will be a great way to spread holiday cheer and support children in need. Once I receive CASA’s item list, I’ll finalize the flyer and setup.

A Message from the Heart 💙

I want to take a moment to share something that’s been weighing on me. Almost everything I send to our Officers, I also send to our Members. Officers are in one text group, Members in another. I make sure to reach out to everyone I have a number for—and I also post updates on our page.

But truthfully, only a couple of members ever respond. It’s exhausting. I do it because I care deeply about our mission and the reason we’re all here. I believe if someone truly wants to contribute their time and effort, they will—without needing to be begged or constantly reminded.

It’s clear that the mission means more to some than others, and that’s okay. I just want to say thank you to those who consistently show up—whether it’s for fundraisers, raffle baskets, ticket sales, food prep, or attending meetings. Your presence and support do not go unnoticed.

Let’s continue to be mindful of our words, body language, and whispers. Respect and unity matter.

Thank you all 💐
