Today, Legacy Farms had the absolute privilege of welcoming members of 100WomenStrong of Loudoun County, Virginia to our garden spaces to see just how much we’ve grown over the last few years! 🌱

Our Junior Staff Member, Ethan M., led a fantastic tour of the gardens and blooming floral beds. Afterward, guests jumped into a hands-on DIY bouquet arranging workshop guided by our Design Mentor, Leah Foster. To top it all off, everyone stayed refreshed with delicious, freshly brewed iced tea courtesy of Seven Teahouse . 🍹✨

We are beyond grateful for 100 Women Strong and all of the incredible community support that helps our mission flourish! 🌸

Our Friday farmers arranged this mandala from hydrangea, zinnias, marigolds, and celosia—laid out spoke by spoke. Traditional sand mandalas are swept away when finished, a reminder that nothing stays the same for long. Flowers teach that same lesson.

Some flowers are easy to grow and harvest. Others require patience, practice, and a surprising amount of skill.

“To get a successful flower, you need a single, unbroken stem line around 12–15 inches long. The problem is that, unlike many other flowers, gomphrena does not have a one-to-one stem-to-flower ratio. It splits like the bloodline of a medieval king who has had one too many dalliances....”

In his latest Gardener’s Apprentice story, James Duquette writes with humor about the hidden work behind our bouquets — and the growing knowledge of our apprentices, mentors, and floral staff as they move through the seasons.

Happy birthday to Czessie! She stopped by Seven Teahouse with her daughter to pick up some tea and left with a gorgeous Legacy Farms bouquet — glad she’s celebrating with fresh flowers from the farm.

Today, our apprentices scattered celosia, zinnia, and marigold seeds across the fields at Temple Hall Farm Regional Park in preparation for their Fall Festival in October. We’re grateful for our partnership with Temple Hall and proud to have a hand in it. We also got a nifty wagon ride!
