Yesterday, we attended the Loudoun Delegation to the General Assembly at their Pre-Session Legislative Hearing, sharing the importance of a feasibility study on W&OD Rail-with-Trail.

Thank you to the Senators, Delegates and the Town of Leesburg for hosting this event, and thank you to the members of the community who shared their priorities for the upcoming legislative session.

Join us and fight to win a feasibility study of W&OD Rail-with-Trail in 2026! A feasibility study is the first step to reconnecting our communities, uplifting the trail and improving our transportation system.

W&OD Rail will protect the trail, reserving the vast majority of the parkland for trail use, all while while making commutes easier, improving the biking and walking experience, and connecting our communities.

Methodology: The W&OD Railroad Regional Park as a 45-mile, 100 foot wide corridor, which is ~545 acres. We then estimate W&OD Rail's footprint using a 38-mile alignment length, and an assumed 35-45 ft rail operating/clearance width. That equals ~161-207 acres, or about 29-38% of the total park area.
