🚨🐾 See Something, Say Something 🐾🚨

Animals can’t speak for themselves, but YOU can be their voice. If you witness or believe there might be animal cruelty or neglect, don’t stay silent—report it. Together, we can protect the innocent lives that depend on us.

❤️ What to Look For:
🐾Animals without access to food, water, or shelter.
🐾Visible signs of injury, illness, or malnourishment.
🐾Pets left outside in extreme weather conditions.
🐾Evidence of abuse, such as physical harm or neglect.

📞 What to Do:
✅Report It: Contact Loudoun County Animal Services to report concerns.
✅Stay Observant: Document details like location, date, and a description of the situation.
✅Stay Safe: Never intervene directly—leave it to the professionals.

By speaking up, you could save a life. Animals deserve compassion, care, and safety. 🐶🐱🐾

If something happens and you need to give up your pet, the shelter (or any rescue) should be your last resort. Please know that the shelter is here to help you and your pet as much as possible and has created this guide to help with rehoming.

Why try to rehome as opposed to bringing your animal to the shelter? Pets get stressed in a shelter environment, you can help with making sure that they get a good home, and the transition will be smoother into that new home.

If you have any questions regarding this guide, please contact Loudoun County Animal Services.

Today is World Rabies Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about rabies prevention and the steps we can all take to protect people and animals. Rabies is a deadly disease, but it is preventable. One of the most important things pet owners can do is keep their pets current on their rabies vaccinations.

You can also help protect your family and pets by:
💉 Keeping rabies vaccinations up to date
🦝 Avoiding contact with wild or unfamiliar animals
🐕 Supervising pets when they're outdoors
🦇 Reporting unusual wildlife behavior or possible exposures
📞 Contacting your veterinarian and local animal control or health department after a potential rabies exposure

World Rabies Day is a good reminder that protecting our pets also helps protect our entire community.
