“An organization whose mission is to educate, enlighten and empower individuals (school-aged children, at-risk youth who have aged out of foster care, and the elderly) through culinary education and provide nutritional support to community organizations who focus on reducing the occurrence of food insecurity one plate at a time.”
Kitch'n Lyfe Skills supports individuals whose career focus is in c
ulinary education who otherwise wouldn't be able to learn the trade through traditional methods. We believe that by supporting individual educational goals we can help further the instances of food insecurity. Another barrier that affects food insecure girls is access to menstrual supplies. 1 in 6 girls misses school because they don't have access to the supplies they need and it could mean not putting food on the table when the situation occurs in a food-insecure home. The founder's original plan was to provide girls what they needed to start the school year off right with an annual back to school event, because of today's climate that annual event has blossomed into year-round support, with distribution through other non-profit organizations who directly serve these girls and local schools. In the first part of '2020 we have already distributed over 1100 personal care bags more than doubling last year's efforts. There are still families and girls that need our support. Our goal is to offer a "hand up" not a "hand out" and with your support, we are able to help make "fishermen". Wish List
