Grants in action! 🌱 We 💚 seeing this Healthcare Home Garden Group up and running at ReDiscover!!

Look at our garden grow.
With support from the Greater Lee's Summit Healthcare Foundation, ReDiscover's HealthCare Home (HCH) garden group used a portion of the funds to get their hands dirty and successfully started seed to grown into beautiful Canna's Flowers. The seeds that were used had been collected from the plants that were grown last year.
The HCH helps individuals manage both physical and mental health conditions through integrated holistic care. The program connects clients to primary care, coordinates medical and behavioral health services, and promotes wellness through health screenings, nutrition, physical activity and preventative care.

Help us welcome the newest addition to our GLSHF Board of Directors, Carey Spain!

Carey is a seasoned healthcare leader with more than 30 years of experience dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children and families. She currently serves as the Senior Director of Integrated Community Care at Children's Mercy , where she oversees delegated medical and behavioral management functions for health plans contracted with Children’s Mercy’s Integrated Care Solutions. In addition, Carey leads community partnership initiatives that connect families with resources and services designed to promote optimal health outcomes and overall well-being.

Throughout her career, Carey has been committed to advancing integrated, community-centered approaches to healthcare. Her leadership focuses on fostering collaboration across healthcare providers, community organizations, and health plans to improve access, quality, and positive outcomes for children and families.
​
Carey earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Missouri and holds master’s degrees from the University of Kansas and UMKC. She has been a resident of Lee’s Summit for more than 30 and is deeply committed to serving her local community through both her professional work and community engagement.

Kendall is a 2022 Lee’s Summit High graduate attending the University of Central Missouri in Speech Pathology. We are thrilled to count Kendall among 15 scholarship winners this year and can’t wait to watch her career in healthcare come to fruition!
