What was once a growing suburban community has become one of the region’s most dynamic population centers – expanding from approximately 85,000 residents in 2007 to almost 110,000 today, with tens of thousands more expected in the years ahead.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our cherished volunteers.

For years, Sandi Henry dedicated her time, kindness, and compassion to serving our community through Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit. Her warm smile and generous spirit brought comfort not only to those receiving meals, but to everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Sandi Henry embodied the true meaning of service—showing up with reliability, care, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Her impact will be felt for years to come in the lives she touched and the friendships she built.

We are deeply grateful for her service and will carry her legacy forward in all that we do.

Today, Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit was proud to host local political and school board candidates at Lee's Summit Medical Center as part of our March for Meals celebration.

Guests learned about the impact of senior food insecurity at both the state and local level, toured our Meals on Wheels operations, and met the incredible frontline staff and volunteers who prepare nearly 700 meals each week.

They also had the opportunity to connect with our dedicated volunteer drivers and help send meals out into the community—seeing firsthand the difference these services make every day.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to support our mission and raise awareness for the seniors we serve! 💙

We were honored to welcome Mayor Bill Baird as he joined us in celebrating March for Meals month.

To help raise awareness of the vital services Meals on Wheels provides to our community, Mayor Baird spent time alongside our incredible volunteers—assisting with meal distribution and personally delivering meals to clients. His hands-on involvement continues to shine a light on the importance of supporting our neighbors in need.

This marks the 8th consecutive year that Mayor Baird has dedicated time to thank our volunteers and connect with the individuals we serve. We are grateful for his ongoing support and commitment to our mission.
