Laura's Little Bits of Comfort

Laura's Little Bits of Comfort Our organization provides cancer care packages for patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation tre We have also had a short conversation about Ms. Laura. Ms.

It Started as a Preschool Kindness Project...
Dear Parents,
We have been talking to the children about caring for others, including what to say when we have hurt someone or their feelings. We told them Ms. Laura has Cancer. And how some days she may be in our classroom and some days she may not. Cancer has touched our preschool/daycare family over the past couple of years. Two of our preschool par

ents have fought the disease, and Ms. Laura continues to fight it! Laura was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December 2014. We thought the battle was won, but in January 2016, the cancer had spread and was Stage 4 Breast Cancer. This year, we will be collecting items during the month of October that the children can help us put together as a care package for others who fight this disease. Laura will deliver these care packages to patients at the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center at Centerpoint Medical Center where she receives her treatment. Although these are small gestures to you and me, they mean the world to those newly diagnosed patients. Just knowing someone cares. Below is a list of items we are collecting. We would appreciate any donations! Gum/Mints/Lifesavers (these help with the taste of the medicine)
Tissues (Chemo causes a runny nose and lots of tears)
Lip Balm/Chapstick (Great for dry mouth and lips)
Crackers/Cookies (For when nothing tastes good)
Lotion (Helps with so much hand washing)
Hand Sanitizer/Wipes (To keep germs away)
All of these can be travel size

Lightweight Stocking Caps or Socks (Winter is coming)
Water Bottles (Bottled water sometimes tastes better)
Jesus Calling Devotional Book (this book has special meaning to Ms. Laura)

And most important of all, Prayers...Lots and Lots of Prayers! Thank You,

Ms. Laura & Ms. Debbie

💜May Care Bag Delivery with some very special helpers .williams and to honor a beloved husband, Dad, Papa and friend! This week we were able to deliver our care packages throughout the city! Ally, Sherry and Reese arrived to help Deb deliver to Cancer Action. To honor John and celebrate his birthday, our organization purchased Dairy Queen gift cards to place in each bag. At Cancer Action, Deb handed Reese the gift cards and let her put them in the bags in honor of her Papa. Thank you ladies for helping us this week. Thank you to everyone that makes this possible month after month! From Ally, John’s daughter, I am so excited for people to receive an extra special treat this month!💜 To celebrate life, being together and living it to the fullest, and to enjoy the sweetness of life and remembering John and the way he lived life each day💜

We have several new followers on our page. So, I thought I would share a couple of pictures of Laura, the face behind our organization.
I know her daughters have their own favorite photos. These two are mine.
To me, these pictures show the Laura we all knew and loved.
The Chiefs picture was my contact photo for her name on my phone. It shows her personality… how she used to laugh and have fun. She had a great laugh. And if you knew her, I’m sure you can hear that giggle right now.
The picture in orange shows her caring nature and how she was always there for her girls. She was elegant, kind, and giving. These traits carry on in her girls.
I hope these pictures give you a glimpse of who she was. The face behind the name. The smile behind the love.

🩷Yesterday, we had an amazing opportunity to speak at the Missouri Association for Court Administrators Spring Conference at Margaritaville at the Lake of the Ozarks. They selected our organization as their Civic Service Project for the year. We did what we do best, spoke from the heart about Laura, our organization and the lives we have touched. This all started 10 years ago as a preschool kindness project, and we could have never fathomed how blessed we are to be continuing the promise we made to Laura and her loving legacy. There were so many full circle moments yesterday. One of the ways MACA is raising money for us is through a raffle. I was a little teary as I walked through looking at all the amazing baskets donated to raise money for our organization. At the end of our presentation, Deb mentioned who is a positive life coach. Jay Shetty writes, “In a world that feels heavy and everyone is carrying something we can’t see, it is easy to believe what we do doesn’t matter. One moment of kindness, one choice to show up, it reaches people you never meet and on days you never witness and in ways you never fully understand. Never underestimate the smallest good you can do.” We found that in our preschool kindness project that one act 10 years later has touched so many. 🩷

🩷A huge thank you to everyone who came out to our 5th Annual Cinco De Mayo Zumba celebration! It was a beautiful night of Zumba, great Mexican and margaritas, and community coming together to keeping supporting Laura’s Little Bits of Comfort. What a gift it is to continue Laura’s Legacy of Love through this organization. We could not do what we do for cancer patients and their families without you! Thank you again🩷

Happy Spring 🤍

We wanted to reconnect and share a quick update with you all. March and April brought some unexpected busyness, and we appreciate your patience as our newsletter was delayed.

There are so many meaningful and exciting things happening right now—including Mom’s angel day coming up on May 2nd. We’ll be honoring her that evening at our Zumba Cinco de Mayo celebration at Studio 3v at 5pm. 💃

We’re also incredibly honored to be presenting later in May at the MACA Spring Educational Conference—a special opportunity to share this mission and Laura’s story.

Be sure to check out our latest newsletter for all the details, stories, and ways to stay connected.

Thank you for being part of this journey. 🤍

Happy Valentine’s Day 🩷

Today is a day centered around love — and we were reminded this month that love often looks like showing up when someone needs it most.

While the holidays, snow, and busy schedules kept us from delivering comfort bags, we were still able to bless a Lee’s Summit teacher and a family of three who had been battling cancer for the past 6 years.

We’re also so thankful for relationships like the one we share with Val, our February Member Spotlight. Val’s heart, support, and connection to our mission remind us that this organization is built on people — on stories — on love that continues to ripple outward.

Today especially, we are reminded:
Love isn’t just flowers and cards.
It’s showing up. It’s remembering. It’s caring well.

Thank you for being part of this community and helping us continue Laura’s legacy — one little bit of comfort at a time. 💕
