The Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving students and teachers in the Lee’s Summit, Missouri R7 School District. We express COMPASSION through philanthropy, provide the CONNECTION between donor generosity and classroom needs, and strengthen our LSR7 schools, neighborhoods and town by working together as a firmly-rooted COMMUNITY.

At this time last week, an army of volunteers was arriving at Lee’s Summit West to help bring our 30th Race for the Future to life!

Over the past 30 years, HUNDREDS of people have given their time and energy to make this event happen. From assembling race packets and setting up the course to helping with race-day logistics and keeping everything running smoothly, it takes a village to pull off an event like this!

These are just a few snapshots of our amazing volunteers. Honestly, we don’t have many photos because they were too busy making the day happen!

Let’s hear it for our Mascot Mile Sponsor: Mascot Junction !
The Mascot Mile brought plenty of school spirit, smiles, and fun!

We had mascots from Mascot Junction and local favorites like Chick-fil-A and Texas Roadhouse, plus Monty from the Kansas City Monarchs, celebrating the franchise’s FOURTH Miles Wolff Cup championship! We also had school mascots from Richardson, Trailridge, Underwood, Lee’s Summit West, and Lee’s Summit North!

And who could forget the bubbles adding a little extra magic to the mile?

Our 30th Race for the Future was an AMAZING morning, and we loved sharing it with all of you!

We had 816 registered participants, which included our Kids Dash participants and Dream Partners, and 603 runners completed the 5K! What an incredible turnout!

We’re excited to share more photos with you soon. In the meantime, here are a couple pics celebrating our top schools in our school participation competition. The schools with the highest number of registered participants representing their school earned grants for their buildings. The first place school was , who received $1000. The second place school was Hazel Grove Elementary , who received $750 and third place school was East Trails Middle School who received $250!

What if students could turn their ideas into action?

For the 5th year, the Lee’s Summit Educational Foundation is putting funding directly into the hands of students through Student Grants!

Over the past four years, we’ve awarded nearly $40,000 to student-led ideas and we can’t wait to see what students dream up this year.

There’s $10,000 available for this year’s grants.

Applications are due December 1.
