I can’t believe it but today is February 1st! State is barely a month away, so it’s time for the Miss Alabama’s Teen social media calendar! 🙌🏻💙
My name is Emily Grace (Jane) Hughes, and I am currently Miss Leeds Teen 2026! I am a senior at Hoover High School, and I have taken 13 AP classes! I am extremely honored to serve as a Hoover Ambassador, and President of the National Honor Society. I also love Spanish, and I took four years of it in school! 📚
I have been a dancer for sixteen years, and dancing is truly a foundation in my life. I have studied hip-hop, jazz, ballet, tap, and contemporary styles. One time I even danced in a Bollywood flash mob with the Hoover Belles! For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of being a dance teacher. I absolutely love my job, and working with children is a huge passion of mine. 🩷
Which leads me to my community service initiative The Elevate Project: providing free and accessible dance classes to underprivileged children in Alabama. My goal is to help these kids access dance educations they otherwise would be unable to afford, have transportation to, or simply don’t imagine attending due to their realities.
Service is one of the biggest aspects of my life, and starting the Elevate Project has been so gratifying. I also serve as President of the Hoover Juniorettes, a girls community service club in Hoover, and as a Hoover Belle! 👗
Some fun facts about me are…
- I am gluten free due to an allergy
- I love comfy clothes and dressing in grandma chic!
- I have three black cats! 🐈⬛
- I have a rubber duck collection of over 85 ducks.
- Everything has to have a nickname and my car’s name is Gertie! ✨
