Adoption Term & Requirements
•Adopters must be over 18 years of age and have been employed./had consistent income for more than one year, verification of such must be provided. If asked
Adopters must be experienced in the care and handling of the animal adopted. Care and feeding instructions shall be provided according to each animals needs.
• Three references are required
• The adoption fee, which varies, is dependent upon the age and health of the animal. This adoption fee helps cover some of the costs incurred in bringing the animal back to good health.
• The adopter shall provide yearly preventive inoculations, appropriate parasite control, and medical care as necessary for the animal.
• The adopter shall notify 4R Animal Shelter (4R) if the animal dies, whether accidental, natural, or through humane means to end suffering.
• The adopter agrees to provide updates and photos as requested by 4R.
• A shelter shall be provided to properly house the animal.
• Adopter shall feed to maintain a health weight.
• Fresh water must be available 24 hours per day
• Horses can not be adopted to an adoptee who breeds any type/breed of horses.
• Sale, transfer, assignment or encumbrance of any animal adopted from 4R is prohibited, however, the animal can be returned to 4R if the adopter becomes financially or physically unable to care for the animal, or the animal is no longer wanted or needed.
• Location changes of the animal must be filed with 4R. 4R reserves the right to make site visits, to ensure the adopted animal is receiving appropriate care.
• 4R reserves the right to repossess adopted animals if the terms and requirements as described above are not fulfilled.
4R retains ownership of said animal though the adopter has use of and care of said animal. 4R may inspect the animal and surroundings it is kept in. If the animal is moved to another facility, 4R must be notified prior to the move so the new facility can be inspected.
