One of our members, Kyle Pettibone, attended Lee Elementary School’s Field Day yesterday representing IAFF Local 5318 and the Lee Fire Department alongside other Lee Fire Department staff, members of the Lee Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. It was a beautiful day filled with fun, laughter, and great community spirit.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to connect with the kids in our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success and thank you to the organizers for allowing us to be a part of your event!

Today we mourn the Line of Duty Death of Boston Firefighter Robert “Bobby” Kilduff of Rescue 2, a 24-year veteran of the Boston Fire Department, who made the ultimate sacrifice while operating at a 3-alarm fire in Dorchester last night.

On behalf of our entire Local, we extend our deepest condolences to the members of the Boston Fire Department, Rescue 2, and to Bobby’s family, friends, and loved ones during this heartbreaking time.

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Rest easy, Brother. We have it from here.

We would like to proudly recognize Brothers Mitch Arseneau and Michael Poirier for receiving Life-Saving Awards at the annual dinner hosted by the Berkshire County EMSCO. Their professionalism, quick actions, and dedication to serving their community made a life-changing difference when it mattered most.

These awards reflect the commitment our members bring to every call and every patient they serve.

“EMS is not just about saving lives — it’s about bringing hope, compassion, and calm in someone’s worst moment.”

Congratulations to both recipients on this well-deserved honor. Your Local is proud of your service and dedication to the people of Berkshire County.

Last Friday, Firefighter/EMT Kyle Pettibone, one of our Fire Life & Safety Educators, visited the preschool class at Lee Elementary School as part of their “Community Helpers” lesson.

🚒 Kyle showed the students some of the tools and equipment firefighters use, explained our protective gear, and helped them see that a fully dressed firefighter isn’t scary — they’re someone you can go toward in an emergency.

🧯 The visit wrapped up with a review of:
• Stop, Drop, and Roll
• Crawl Low Under Smoke
• How to call 911

❤️ We love getting out into our community to share Fire Life and Safety education and show how firefighters serve, protect, and help every day.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters of the Massachusetts State Police following the tragic loss of one of their own this morning.

This is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks that come with serving our communities each and every day. We stand in solidarity with the trooper’s family, friends, and fellow members during this incredibly difficult time.

From all of us at IAFF Local 5318, please know you are not alone. We mourn with you, and we honor the service and sacrifice of your fallen trooper.

Rest easy. We’ll take it from here.
