You can download repeater info right from http://www.repeaterbook.com or put an app on your phone. The website allows you to sort, search, organize, and download. It also allows you to move the data over to your RT Systems software for radio programming. Its great for setting up the radio for a trip. (Click carefully on the website😀, its getting a little heavy on ads.)

Interesting website for GMRS users: http://bbgmrs.mywebcommunity.org/ GMRS isn't Ham, but its a good way to get non-hams interested in useful FM communication..... then maybe Amateur Radio next. The license is easy to get (no test) and cheap. Family members can work under your license. They define "family" in CFR, but its a very wide definition. Its also a good way for Hams to communicate with non-hams, especially in emergencies or situations. They allow up to 50 watts UHF.

This "Hurricane Ian hero: Maryland firefighter uses his ham radio to send rescuers to Florida's Sanibel Island | Fox News" was facilitated via our Florida Statewide HF Emergency Net for Hurricane Ian and SARNET. Dale-KC3TAU, who the article is about, called in to the Florida Statewide Emergency net. The NCS at the time was John Herleman-KM4WHO who reached out to the North Florida EC with the info who then contacted Lee County EOC via the SARNET. (statewide repeater network) and got in touch with Steve (unknown last name) who was operating the Lee County EOC amateur radio station. The info was relayed to Steve who then passed it on to their local emergency management team.

Here is the link to the news story:

Dale Klonin of Hampstead, Maryland, helped rescue 10 people and a dog from Sanibel Island in Florida during Hurricane Ian. He used his ham radio to reach out to rescuers and coordinate efforts.
