DAR has a diverse membership and we celebrate that! Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!

As Hispanic Heritage Month ends, DAR celebrates the enduring contributions of Hispanic people and the important role they played in the story of American independence.

Last September, DAR and the Queen Sofía Spanish Institute co-hosted Spain and the Birth of American Democracy, a symposium exploring Spain’s contributions to the American Revolution. Through DAR’s genealogical resources and ongoing research, we continue to uncover the stories of Patriots from diverse backgrounds who contributed to the cause of American independence. The Turtle Creek DAR recently held their annual day of service. Six Daughters joined the effort and were assisted by one HODAR - Bob, husband of Regent Louise Hunt. Over two afternoons the team cleaned the headstones of 11 past regents.

On Saturday, September 12 our chapter kicked off our new year with a Pink Out party!

On June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress made it official: thirteen stars and thirteen stripes would represent our new nation.

Nearly 250 years later, the Stars and Stripes still fly as one of the most recognized symbols of freedom in the world. For DAR, the flag is more than a symbol. It is a living connection to the patriots who fought for the ideals it represents and a reminder of the values we carry forward every day.

Through flag ceremonies, educational programs, and community events, DAR chapters nationwide work to ensure that the history and meaning behind our flag is never forgotten. On Flag Day and every day, we are proud to honor it.
