Evan Baker, founder of Skeleton Pizza Supply Co. (SPSC), was a guest speaker today at the Children’s Home as part of his 2026 travel route. He spoke with youth about creativity, goal setting, and building unconventional projects that combine art, community, and personal growth.

He also shared the story behind Skeleton Pizza Supply Co. and the community-focused goals planned for 2026. That includes traveling to all 50 states with 52 weekend stops, hosting public pizza gatherings alongside large skeleton installations in shared outdoor spaces.

This week, we welcomed guest speaker Sam Mitchell, founder of Autism Rocks and Rolls, a nonprofit organization and podcast he started at age 16. His work focuses on reducing stigma around autism by promoting acceptance, sharing the emotional experiences of individuals on the spectrum, and highlighting the talents and strengths of autistic individuals.

Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker Lisa Bruder from the Boone County Courthouse Clerk’s Office. She gave our youth an engaging, hands-on lesson about voting, including the opportunity to experience using a real voting machine with sample candidates. It was a great way to introduce the importance of civic participation and help them understand the voting process in a fun and meaningful way.

Our Executive Director, Kelly Salee, had the opportunity to attend the IARCA - Indiana Association of Resources and Child Advocacy Leadership Retreat this week! She enjoyed connecting with Sean McCrindle, CEO of Bashor Children's Home, and Rich Lapinski, CEO of Indiana United Methodist Children's Home, Inc.

We love building relationships with fellow United Methodist youth homes across Indiana and learning from one another as we work together to support the youth. Thank you to IARCA for providing this valuable opportunity for connection and collaboration!

Master Trooper Nick Klingkammer with the Indiana State Police visited our Independent Living Learning Lab today to share more about his work in law enforcement and connect with our youth. He gave insight into his daily responsibilities, talked about what inspired him to serve, and answered questions from participants about his career and experiences.

We appreciate him taking the time to engage with our youth and give them a closer look at a public service career.
