Our Mission
Lebanon Valley Volunteers in Medicine is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization, founded in 2009 with the purpose of providing free primary medical care and prevention services to the members of Lebanon County who lack access to medical care due to either being underinsured or uninsured. We utilize the voluntary professional services of retired doctors, nurses, and nurse practitioners. Patients who qualify for our services receive not only quality healthcare but also prescription medications, diagnostic testing, healthcare education, and specialty referrals.
LVVIM was formed in response to the increasing number of residents in Lebanon County who are underserved, do not have health insurance, or lack access to health care services. LVVIM provides services to adults ages 18-64 who live or work in Lebanon County, PA that meet the income guideline of 200 percent federal poverty criteria, have no health insurance, or are underinsured. Lebanon City is identified as a ‘Medically Underserved Area/ Population’ and is the residence of 83 percent of the clinic’s patients. Among this population, 29 percent live below the poverty level and approximately 63 percent are of low to moderate income. In 2018, approximately 15 percent of Lebanon County (population 136,950) adult residents did not have health insurance and thus lacked access to primary care services. Over the past 12 months, LVVIM has provided 7,500 treatments to 3,318 patients.
Our mission is to improve the overall health of Lebanon County residents and reduce the barriers to care by providing free compassionate, quality healthcare and education for the underserved members of our community. LVVIM never bills its patients for care and services. We rely entirely on the charitable giving of individuals, businesses, and foundations as well as our own fundraising activities.
