Tennessee has lost one of its greatest treasures.

Dolly Parton’s legacy reaches far beyond the music that made her an icon. Her generosity, compassion, and love for the people of Tennessee have touched countless lives from putting books in the hands of children through the Imagination Library to stepping up time and again when her neighbors and communities needed help.

Dolly never forgot where she came from, and she spent a lifetime giving back to the state she proudly called home.

The Tennessee Professional Fire Fighters Association joins Tennesseans everywhere in mourning her passing and extending our deepest condolences to the Parton family and all those whose lives she touched.

Her music will live on, but so will the incredible legacy of kindness and generosity she leaves behind.

Rest easy, Dolly. Tennessee will never forget you.

If you plan on attending the fair, please be sure to hydrate beforehand with water, not just the amazing sweet tea!

Wear clothes that will keep you cool , not just cool-looking, but temperature cool.

A few other reminders:

* Take breaks in the shade or air conditioning whenever possible.

* Wear sunscreen and reapply throughout the day.

* Keep an extra eye on children, older adults, and anyone who may be more affected by the heat.

* Don’t wait until you’re thirsty to start drinking water.

* Know the signs of heat exhaustion — dizziness, headache, nausea, weakness, or heavy sweating.

* If you start feeling overheated or sick, don’t try to tough it out. Get somewhere cool, hydrate, and ask for help.

Have fun at the fair, enjoy the food, and stay safe in the Tennessee heat!

Today is Election Day—and the next chapter of Wilson County is in your hands.

If you haven’t voted, make your plan now. Bring your photo ID, take a family member or neighbor with you, and vote for the only Republican candidate in District 6: James Smallwood. Polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

This campaign has always been about putting Wilson County residents first—responsible growth, infrastructure, strong public safety, and fiscal discipline.

I humbly ask for your vote for County Commissioner, District 6. Together, we can protect what makes Wilson County home.
