Loving some Warriors!

Our students know the importance of and supporting each other! LHS student Charlie Harker, (pictured below, far right) recently organized a bake sale to support the Warriors BackPack program. She has helped raise $340 and has found an additional donor who is matching that amount for a GRAND TOTAL of $680!

The Warriors BackPack program is as strong as ever but we sure miss our packers! Due to the coronavirus, the packs are coming from Shared Harvest prepacked. Our amazing delivery team unpacks the truck and delivers to the various schools on Wednesday and Thursday. We are looking forward to the day we can pack together again; but in the meantime, the kids are being fed!

Hello friends! I wanted to update you all and put out a plea for some help.

Currently, Warriors BackPack is distributing our food to be integrated into the packs shared by Joshua's Place. Joshua's Place works with the schools and the support they give is far reaching. We have been using our reserves and have not had to pack any new bags. Last week we ran out and had a trial run with 4 diligent packers. In 1 hour we packed 200 packs. We need 400 a week now for 3+ weeks. We are hoping to utilize "Family & Friend" groups. To reduce the risk of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have some stringent guidelines. The groups need to be between 6-9 people only. We ask that these individuals are in familiar groups, such as a family or groups that already work together. We ask that you wear a mask and gloves. We ask that you maintain 5-10 feet apart. The availability is for Monday and Tuesday (dates below); we can be flexible with the time of day. We will have 1 Warriors BackPack representative to work with each group. In our trial run, we had a good set up with no issues; we were able to maintain the distance, etc. We have loose fitting gloves and hand sanitizer we can share, but no masks.

**If you can't help with this project but can share some masks, we would be grateful!**

Warriors BackPack is distributing our food packs to be included in the school's resources. Each pack includes 6 meals for one student and the school will distribute them as needed.

I wanted to thank ROTC students who have reached out to us to help. We have had cadets offer to help - not for credit of the time, but for their belief in this program. Whatever is needed, I believe in ROTC for the help and support they have given us through the years.

I understand the School, Joshua's Place, Elks and others have this under control but if you would like to offer you help, contact them.

Our city is full of loving and caring volunteers and I am proud to be a citizen.

Please be safe, protect your grandparents and wash your hands!

Thank you, Zack Ron Voris for sharing this sad news.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Eilene Nielsen, SMSgt, USAF (ret). SMSgt Nielsen was the LHS JROTC Instructor/Drill Team Director since 2012 and served 23 years Active Duty in the USAF. She was an outstanding mentor and friend to all who knew her and touched the lives of many students. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her and our deepest sympathies are extended to her family.

This is where it happens! We worked with old friends, made new friends and packed 8,400 meals for Lebanon school children who need a little extra nutrition on weekends. The teachers have made comments that the students grades and behavior have improved since the children have begun to receive this extra food. We pack once a month; come and check us out. It’s the best way to spend 2 hours on a Monday night.

Many thanks to LifeHouse Church who faithfully host the program and participate. Tonight we received a sizable donation from Mom’s Club of Lebanon - you ladies are absolutely incredible! Our very able and willing LHS ROTC cadets take care of a lot of the heavy work and keep us rolling. Thanks to all who came tonight: Voris family, Maloney family, Norris family, Rupke family, Larson family, Leo Club, Lions Club, Bible Baptist of Wilmington, Lebanon Garden Club, United Methodist Church, St Francis de Sales, and the Warren County Prosecutors office.
