445 Foundation Raising money for the Children's Miracle Network at Penn State Children's Hospital at Hershey Medical Center... To lose a sister at age 10 is unthinkable.

For my father and mother, to lose their child at age 7 was devastating. Our family survived a horrific ordeal, and came out the other side stronger as a family, with a dedication to protect other families from going through the same ordeal.

Jennifer was a patient of the Children's Hospital at the Milton S. Hershey Penn State Hospital and a Miracle Child for Lebanon County. In 1991 the members of my father's Local Union decided to designate The Children's Miracle Network as the official charity of their local union. For the next 11 years we and the ALCOA Foundation supported the Children's Miracle Network to help better the lives of the kids of our area. Then in 2002 ALCOA decided to shut our plant down which meant the loss of our support and the support of the ALCOA Foundation. Even with the loss of their jobs, these Union Members were more concerned with how we would be able to continue to take care of the kids in our area that might need the services of the Children's Hospital. A group of us got together and decided to Incorporate into the 445 Foundation!

The Rhoade family began their tradition of giving to Children's Miracle Network Hershey in 1991 in memory of their daughter, Jenny, who was one of the first CMN Hershey Miracle children. In 2003, they started the foundation to continue to caring for kids in their community and have continued that legacy. To date, 445 has donated over $144,000 to Penn State Children’s Hospital!
