The Round Valley Trout Association (RVTA) is a non-profit organization incorporated in the state of New Jersey in September of 1980 for the sole purpose of supplementing the trout-stocking program of the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife. RVTA has stocked over 125,000 trout over the years for the benefit and pleasure of ALL ANGLERS. All of our fund raising activities are conducted for the purpose of
supporting our trout stocking programs. These activities include fishing contests, raffles, sport shows, sponsor-a-trout and membership dues. RVTA cooperates with the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife in its ongoing efforts to provide a top quality Fish Management Plan for the reservoir. Since the reservoir was filled in the late sixties, fishing pressure has increased dramatically, and the number of trout stocked by the state has decreased. In 1983, the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife implemented the "Trophy Trout Angling" regulations for Round Valley. This was the first step in a plan to increase the "holdover" trout population. On January 1,1990 further regulations were introduced when a 15 inch, two trout per day limit was placed on brown and rainbow trout. Clearly, the above regulations, along with the continued stocking by the state and RVTA, have increased the holdover trout population. and in 1995 a new Lake trout record was set at 24 lbs. 14 oz. In 1995 the Brown trout record was broken again with a 21lb 6oz. In 2002 the Lake trout record fell again with a 32lb 8oz giant. Anyone can help improve the fishery by joining the RVTA. We have a membership of over 500 and our annual dues are only $25 for regular memberships and $30 for a family membership, which includes an entire family living at the same address.
