We held our annual Ice Cream Social: Parent Info & Sign Up this past Saturday. After a flag ceremony, current Trailmen led the boys in some games while the parents got all the info from the Troop.

"The best kept secret of Trail Life USA, you would think had to do something with an adventurous program for your son(s) or what they would get out of it. However, it's not. The best kept secret is the tribe of men you become friends with. Eight years ago I had no idea the friendships we would gain and develop, sharpening each other over the years.

We say this all the time, but a 'great' Troop exists only because of 'great' dads and dad-likes willing to step up, men with integrity and honor, leading by example. (With some amazing moms in the background)."

There’s something about action that cuts through the surface-level into the deep. As men, if we never embrace the call to adventure, we can’t expect to find authenticity and truth.

The reality is, all men are made to be men of action. It’s part of our DNA. However, men are not merely made for action. Men are also made for community. After God created Adam, it didn’t take long before He observed “It is not good that the man should be alone.” This is one of the first things that God communicates about our nature. In Genesis 2, at the dawn of time, God gave man work to do and a companion with whom to do it.

Men were made for purposeful action and community.
