Recently, 3 of our board members had the opportunity to meet with staff at four of our partner schools to share more about Love Literacy Life (L3) and how we can continue working together to support students in Kansas City, Kansas 💙

From providing basic necessities through food bags…
to filling those bags with the help of incredible volunteers…
to collecting donations from local schools and community partners…

Because of YOU, we are able to restock school food pantries and make sure students have what they need—both in and out of the classroom.

We also shared simple ways schools can partner with us:
✔️ Identify a staff contact
✔️ Connect L3 with potential donors
✔️ Help collect, organize, and fill bags

This work is only possible thanks to the amazing support of:
✨ Students (like NHS at Blue Valley High School)
✨ Community partners and organizations
✨ Local groups who show up in big ways

And of course…we couldn’t leave without saying THANK YOU 💛
Each staff member received a small token of our appreciation—because the work you do every day truly matters.

💛 Spring Break “Fill-the-Bags” = SUCCESS!

We filled 1,018 bags that went home with students at:
✨ Mark Twain Elementary
✨ McKinley Elementary
✨ Quindaro Elementary
✨ TA Edison Elementary

A huge shoutout to the hardworking NHS volunteers from BVHS who made the process so efficient! 🙌

We also distributed additional donations from Blue Valley Food Pantry and recent food drives to these schools, as well as Welborn and West Park.

Quindaro’s bins were delivered (thank you to their amazing custodian who showed up to help! 💛), and McKinley + TA Edison picked up their bags from Mark Twain on Monday.

And to wrap it all up — recycling complete! ♻️
Thank you to Terracon, Inc. for helping us recycle.

So grateful for a community that shows up in every way to support local students! 💛🙌

💛 An incredible service project led by Conor Westphal and his family’s company helped collect food for our Spring Break Fill-the-Bags event!

Thanks to their generosity, we received an amazing donation totaling:

🧀 774 Mac & Cheese boxes
🥣 264 Mac & Cheese cups
🍜 1,290 ramen packs + 6 ramen cups
🥣 1,454 oatmeal packets
🍫 2,904 granola bars
🍲 12 lasagna bowls
🍜 48 Cup Noodles

We are so grateful for partners who step up in big ways to help make sure local kids have food they can count on during Spring Break. 🙌💛

We picked up a second load of Mac & Cheese — 339 boxes this time! 🙌

That brings their grand total so far to an incredible 733 boxes (394 + 339)! 🎉

We are so grateful for a school community that continues to step up in such a big way to help fill our Spring Break bags and support local families. Thank you, Mission Trail Elementary, for your generosity and big hearts! 💛✨

🧀💛 Shout out to Mission Trail Elementary!

They just started collecting macaroni & cheese for our Spring Break bags YESTERDAY — and their bins were already FULL! 🙌 We picked up what they’ve gathered so far, and it totaled an amazing 394 boxes of Mac & Cheese.

A big thank you to Constantine (who may just be the MVP janitor 😉) for helping load everything into the car! We are so grateful for this incredible school community stepping up so quickly to support local families. 💛✨

What a sweet afternoon at the Leon E. Bloch Law Library at University of Missouri–Kansas City! 🍫✨

Jeff Thomas truly showered us with the most incredible chocolate happy hour — homemade chocolates, truffles, cake, drinks… all crafted by Jeff himself as he experiments with new recipes each year.

Jeff hosts this special event annually to thank his coworkers and students who generously donate to our cause — and those donations help us purchase peanut butter for families in need. 💛

This is Jeff’s final year hosting (we’re going to miss this tradition!), but we’re so grateful for the years of support and are excited to connect with a new liaison next year.

Today’s generosity is extra special 💛
Blue Valley Food Pantry shared a donation collected by a local Girl Scout troop who worked so hard to run their own food drive. Their efforts will support multiple elementary school’s food pantries (4–5!) and help so many families.
So proud of these girls for showing what community love looks like! ✨🙌
