Our Chapter wants to honor Steve Woelk, a member of our VVA Chapter 75. Steve was held as POW for 11 months in North Korea after his ship the "U.S.S. Pueblo” was attacked and seized by North Korea in 1968. Today is National POW/MIA Day. We pause to remember, honor the sacrifices and service of those who were Prisoners of War (POW), as well as those who are Missing in Action (MIA), and their families.

The City of Overland Park, KS, issued a Purple Heart Proclamation. Those to accept the Proclamation were Purple Heart Recipients L-R: Afghanistan-LtCol Aaron Krudwig (2012); Vietnam-Larry Leonard (1967); Rhett Lyons (1969); Mayor Curt Skoog; and Purple Heart Chapter 115 in Kansas City & Vietnam Veterans Chapter 75 in Leavenworth, KS. Richard 'Doc' Pustka (1968); Hugh Mills (1969, 1971, 1972); Anthony 'Scottie' O'Connell (1967); Ted Wakeman (1970); - Glen Leonard (1970).

Great Chapter 75 meeting yesterday. Our guest speaker was Ms. Raylene Mason of First City Quilt of Honor. Ms. Mason told us about the history of the Quilt of Valor program and she showed the Quilts she personally made. We had our newest member on the VVA HQ roster, Jim Cunningham at the meeting. Our KS VVA Council President Roland Mayhew signed a new member, Jack Walker, for our Chapter. Plus I was presented a great decanter recognizing my service in Vietnam from the Chapter.
