As May winds down, we’re officially wrapping up our Firewise free-dump period at Becker Park — and what a meaningful month it has been for Chiwawa River Pines. Our community truly showed up. Neighbors cleared needles, cones, branches, and slash with care and purpose, helping reduce wildfire risk and strengthen the safety of our neighborhood. That spirit of looking out for one another is what Firewise is all about, and this month was a wonderful reminder of what we can accomplish together. Every drop-off made a difference.
Thank you to everyone who pitched in, encouraged a neighbor, or simply took time to create more defensible space around their home. Each effort matters, and together those individual actions add up to something powerful for our whole community.
We’re grateful for the energy and commitment our community has shown this year, and we’re already looking forward to building on that momentum next spring. Together, we can continue making Chiwawa River Pines safer, stronger, and more resilient. If you have questions or ideas, feel free to reach out to Stuart McKee at 206-619-9670.
Although the Becker Park drop-off is now closing, Firewise is a year-round effort — and there are still plenty of ways to stay involved and keep the momentum going. Here are a few helpful Firewise-related resources for our neighborhood:
