Fun Fact 1: Betty Reid Soskin, an African American woman, was a remarkable park ranger at the Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front National Historical Park! ๐๏ธ๐ She joined the National Park Service at the inspiring age of 85! She dedicated her time sharing her personal experiences and the stories of other Black women who contributed to the wartime industries. ๐ณ๐ Her work helped bring diverse perspectives to the park and paved the way for future generations of storytellers in the park service! โจ๐ฉ๐พโ๐พ
Fun Fact 2: Minerva Hamilton Hoyt, a passionate advocate for the preservation of desert landscapes, played a crucial role in the establishment of Joshua Tree National Park in California. ๐ต๐ In the 1930s, her tireless campaigning helped protect the park's unique ecosystem, ensuring its preservation for future generations to explore and enjoy. ๐๏ธ๐ Her work also contributed to the growth of the conservation movement and the creation of more national parks!
