Update on Hurricane Laura relief efforts:

Thank you again to everyone who helped out with this! Thanks to a couple more donations that trickled in and a very generous donation from IMS Worldwide, Kristin and Mailing were able to make another trip over there this weekend to directly help two more families and also bring a load of much needed food and supplies to the Cajun Navy to be distributed. Kristin said they had spent some time talking with them while she was there and she was impressed with all they have done to help Hurricane Laura victims already. Just yesterday, they had some students from LSU volunteer with them and were able to completely clear 7 properties of debris with just that group. I love hearing about this stuff and continue to believe there is still so much good in this world, even though it’s harder to see these days through the fog. It’s a little harder to hear about though all the noise, but it is there friends. You will always see and hear what you choose to focus on. Stay vigilant, but choose love, kindness and positivity whenever you get the chance.

All donations were delivered to Lake Charles today. Thank you so much to everyone that helped make this happen!

Tomorrow we will be taking over our first load of water and cleaning supplies to families in the Lake Charles, LA area that were impacted by Hurricane Laura.

Thank you to IMS Worldwide for donating all this water! Wow!

Next weekend we will be bringing over all of the toiletries, baby supplies and food so there is still time to donate if you’d like.

We are still very short of reaching our goal for non perishable food items. Please contact us if you would like to contribute.

Thank you to everyone who has already donated! It is much appreciated!

Hurricane Laura Relief Efforts

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I needed to post here and I’m grateful for that, but now our neighbors in Louisiana need some help.

We’re currently helping a friend organize a small drive for families in the Lake Charles, LA area that have been impacted by Hurricane Laura. The damage caused by this storm was immense and these folks are in for a very long haul as they clean up and eventually begin to rebuild their community. They will be trying to put their lives back together months after the news stops reporting on it.

As many of you know first hand, when a natural disaster hits, donations from all over the country come in, but after the news has stopped talking about it and social media chatter has died down, donations begin to drop off quickly.

Our plan is to begin gathering items now and deliver them around September 12th or 13th when the need is still high, but donations have started to slow down.

This will be a relatively small scale operation, since we simply do not have the resources and direct connections with local officials as we did with Harvey. All donated items will go directly to families in need that we have already been put in contact with through a close friend who has direct ties to the community. At this time, we are focusing on helping 7 families, consisting of 16 adults and 11 children ages 1 - 16.

If donations should exceed current estimates, we will add more families.

During and after Harvey, Louisiana was an incredible help to our communities. Let’s help to return the favor.

Items needed include:

Bottled water

Non perishable food items

Toiletries (shampoo, toothpaste, feminine products, body wash, etc)

Paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates)

Cleaning supplies

Diapers (size 3, 4 and Pull-Up) & Wipes

Tarps

Dog food (small & large breed)

Below is a photo sent from one of the families.

Please contact us if you would like to contribute. We can arrange to pick up as well from our local friends. Out of area supporters that wish to donate can also send supplies here through Amazon or make other arrangements by contacting us. Thank you!

It was a good day,

Hello friends,

We have some friends that are working at a distribution center in Humble that need volunteers.

They have many goods and supplies but no one to distribute them.

Please share or send us a message so we could help these people out.

Thank you all,
Karl

Yesterday's recap:

Sorry we missed yesterday. It has been busy as some things are getting back to normal.

We met up with Kelly from Cedarpoint in a very awesome truck that came from Idaho.

I was amazed at all of the canned food that was on that truck.

Much of it was unloaded and then loaded back up to disburse in the city.

We are floored with the amount of support that we have received from Idaho.

We truly love and thank you all.

Weekend Recap:

On Saturday we got a call about a group of students at Burley Jr High School in Burley, Idaho.

It was incredible that a few students in only a few days were able to collect 20,000 lbs of goods.

Seriously, unreal

Shawn Montgomery, Grade 8 Car Culture & The Car Audio Shop made a 35 hour round trip drive and delivered a box truck full of goods.

Truck troubles and all, they made it!!

We also saw a video from our friends from Idaho and we are amazed.

It really is unbelievable that a small group of people can make such a big difference.

Thank you all for today.

Today's recap:

Brian got in very early this morning with a van and trailer full of donations from DFW Area.

This evening we were asked to assist in bringing 2 trailers down to an apartment complex in Dickinson.

That was a very rewarding experience.

To see the look of gratitude on the faces of residents that were completely flooded out and had no way to get to the shelters.

We posted a few videos up of this evening.

We also talked to our friend Shawn, who has organized donations in the St. Louis Area.

We are trying to line up a larger trailer because he has acquired more donations than he can fit in the trailer that he has.

We want to thank you all for all of your support.

Thank you for today,
Karl
