What a success the 2nd Annual Northern Hills Recreation Association School’s Out Bike Bash & Bike Repair Clinic turned out to be. 🚲
Because of the stormy weather, we were incredibly thankful to the Handley Center for welcoming us in. It was a great place to come together for an amazing evening.
The goal of every kid in our community having a bike is now a little bit closer.
We had well over 100 kids and 50+ adults attend. Fifteen bikes went out the door, at least a dozen bikes were brought back to life through repairs, and several kids applied for bikes through the program. Over the next couple of weeks, we will work to make sure those kids are taken care of too.
Around 100 kids were properly fitted with helmets thanks to Monument Health. We also gave away bike pumps, bike locks, free food, and so much more. The DJ kept the energy going all evening and there were a lot of really happy kids there today.
A huge thank you to SRAM, Strider, Black Hills Bicycles, and Rushmore Bicycles for being instrumental in bringing this event together. Since our little community doesn’t have a bike shop, these incredible businesses and people stepped in and became part of ours for the day.
Thank you also to all of our sponsors and supporters:

Lead community members truly came together for this event and we can’t thank everyone enough for volunteering, donating, repairing bikes, organizing, sponsoring, and showing up.
Please continue spreading the word about the bike program. Families can reach out or fill out an online application to receive a quality used bike.
We already can’t wait to do this again next year. 🚴
