Hello Hope's Kitchen friends! Our board is trying to decide whether we should have our Nov. 28 meal, since it's right after Thanksgiving. Our decision will be based upon volunteer availability and community need. Hope's Kitchen is 100% run by community volunteers. I wanted to get some input from our community for this decision. If we hold a meal Nov. 28, would you come? If so, would you be willing to volunteer? Our board will make the decision probably later this month, after much discussion and consideration for all factors, including community input. We're cookin!

Hey Hope's Kitchen friends! Ever since we started Hope's Kitchen I have said that we have the most amazing volunteers and board members! Hope's Kitchen absolutely could not exist without our hard working board of Leila Kietzman, Mariana Pitlick, Sue Holloway, Jim Wolff, Jonathan Pitlick, and myself. Leila has a background in restaurant management for various concepts, and she knows exactly how to cook for large groups of people. Sue organized the community Christmas and biker breakfast in Lead for many decades, and she knows how to organize volunteers and she knows the CMC kitchen like the back of her hand. Mariana is always willing to step in and help with picking up food, running errands, taking minutes from our meetings. Jim keeps track of our money, and Jonathan is our fix-it guy and all around volunteer!

Today I had to call my board and tell them that I am extremely sick, and don't know if I will make it to Hope's Kitchen on Saturday. Leila, Sue, and Mariana are stepping up in a HUGE way, and thanks to them I do not have to worry about anything. Hope's Kitchen WILL be serving from 5-7 p.m., Oct. 10, and we will have our meal deliveries. It's EXTREMELY important, if you want a meal delivered, to please get your order in by 5 p.m. (Friday, Oct. 9.) I am compiling a list to send to Sue, so she can coordinate the volunteers for the deliveries. If you enjoy your meal on Saturday, please be sure to let Leila, Jane Martens, Tanya Heller, and Mariana Pitlick know! They're gonna be working hard in the kitchen, while I try to recover as soon as possible! The Knights of Columbus of Lead-Deadwood will be serving, bussing tables, greeting, and cleaning up. It will be a great time, and I wish I could be there!

Homemade enchilada sauce! I ended up adding 1 tbs chili powder and another tsp of apple c***r vinegar. Sooo good!!
