Cascade Homeschool Club (CHC) is a welcoming, collaborative, in-person co-op where local homeschooling families come together for hands-on learning, creative projects, meaningful community connection, and a shared love of learning. Nestled along the beautiful McKenzie River at McKenzie Bible Fellowship, we create a supportive environment for school-age children through parent-led activities, guest artists, and engaging thematic units.
We meet every Monday from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM for a total of 24 weeks during the 2025–2026 school year:

• Fall Semester: 12 weeks + 3 or more optional field trips and special events.

• Spring Semester: 12 weeks + 3 or more optional field trips and a year end party!

A Typical Monday

• 10:00 AM – 11:30AM: Free-choice and social time with activity tables, crafts, games, and outdoor play
• 11:30AM – 12:30 PM: Lunch and continued socialization
• 12:30 – 1:30 PM: Focused lesson, project, or structured extra-curricular activity
• 1:30 – 2:00 PM: Group clean-up and community chores

Each semester features three 4-week thematic units (examples include theater, woodworking, animal science, map making, dance, music, cooking, nature study, STEM, choir, gameschooling, public speaking, and more). Many units are parent-led, while others bring in skilled community members and professional resident artists. Every unit culminates in a special event where children showcase their new skills, families and friends gather, and the club raises funds for future adventures.

CHC offers a low-cost membership that includes access to all 24 Monday meetings, our active homeschool community support group on BAND, field trips, and special events throughout the year. We serve as both a vibrant homeschool support group and a community-wide enrichment program. We actively welcome families of school-aged children as well as local community members who want to share their talents and passions with youth. Together, we co-create something extraordinary—building friendships, fostering curiosity, and strengthening our special McKenzie River community through extra-curricular activities, service projects, and joyful shared experiences. All are welcome who wish to participate!

Parents stay on site and contribute many skills and share responsibility.

Someone told me recently that the best way to figure out what your life purpose was is to ask yourself what you’d be willing to die for. Mine was easy. My kids. I’d give my life without a second thought for each of my three children. My life for theirs? Um…duh! I realized in that moment that all of my concerns about not leaving my mark on this world or not having done enough, just simply didn’t hold as much weight with me as I thought they did. I can’t even count all of the times I’ve sat with myself and wondered what else I should be doing? I’d see all of these people doing legendary things with their lives and I would let my mind spin out with the list of things I could be doing better. I could travel the world writing my own version of eat, love, pray, create my own bourbon bar and bookstore or buy a haunted castle in Scotland.. the list goes on and on and on and just gets weirder. But in pausing to ask myself what I would die for, I realized with sudden clarity that being a mom was my ticket to “fame”- the thing I came to earth for. A deep rooted peace washed over me and I chuckled to myself. I’ve spent a lot of time stressing about my purpose to have this aha moment now when my kids are mostly grown. hindsight is 20/16. Goodness, I’m just grateful that I didn’t let my desire to do something autobiography worthy keep me from being fully present in the role I’d give my life for.
