Hello everyone,
I wanted to share an update now that Corson Cemetery Restoration has completed this year's work - and we couldn't be happier with the results! JR Corson and his team truly worked their tails off.
I'll be uploading some before and after photos below. The pictures don't really do justice to the transformation, so if you can, please visit Glendale and walk through the original areas of the cemetery. Corson's crew does such a fabulous job that you'll be amazed at how little the area around each stone is disturbed.
The tower stones are now standing tall and proud once again. Broken monuments have been repaired, and all the stones that were lying on the ground or propped against trees have been reinstalled.
One of the most meaningful moments of this project was when JR and his team located the burial site of the stillborn twins from the1800s. Their stone had been leaning against a tree in the front row, and they have now been properly re-marked and restored . These two babies were the inspiration for this entire project, and I'm so proud that their marker is back where it belongs.
Several Veterans' stones were also found buried in the grass. They have now been repaired, reset, and adorned with Veterans' Medallions, so they can be honored with flag placements each Memorial day.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Patriot Fest founders Donald Drach and Annette Black for choosing this project to receive a $500 donation specifically to help with Veterans ' stones.
On behalf of the Cemetery Board and myself, thank you to every single person who donated or supported this effort.
I am currently working on grant applications in hopes that we can bring Corson Cemetery Restoration back next year to continue this important work!
