We hope everyone had a great first day of school yesterday! As a new year begins let’s be sure we are setting ourselves up for success by prioritizing our sleep! Check out the post below from David County Health Department about how we can do that.

Parents Matter, Too. 💛

We talk a lot about helping kids manage big emotions and stress—but parents are part of the equation, too.

Children learn regulation through relationships. The Child Mind Institute explains that when adults practice managing their own stress, they’re better able to help kids navigate theirs. That’s co-regulation. - Child Mind Institute: What Is Co-Regulation?

That doesn’t mean we have to be perfectly calm. It means we get to learn the tools, too.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is one more tool you can add to your toolkit—helping you slow down, build awareness, and respond to stress with intention.

Because caring for yourself isn’t selfish.
Parents matter, too. 💛

Upcoming MBSR classes and other community workshops and classes can we found at dbhutah.org/prevention/

Thank you to Blue Star Families for inviting us to participate in the Nourish the Service Event. We were a small part of a wide community effort to support our military families. We love that we get to collaborate and work with so many cool people in our community.

Workshop complete! Thank you to everyone who braved the storm last night and came to our first ever The Teen Brain: Parent Cheat Codes for Behavior & Healthy Brain Development Workshop. We had a great discussion and it was lovely being able to learn with and from you all!

A big thanks to our many sponsors who helped make this night successful. Layton City Utah was a great host, our raffle prize was donated by Surf-n-swim, Intermountain Health hospital in Layton provided our refreshments, and The Utah Shirt Shop made sure our instructors showed up in style with custom tees.

We look forward to continuing to have these conversations throughout our community. Live in Davis County and would like us to come to your neighborhood/organization we’d love to partner. Visit tinyurl.com/DAVISHOST to request a workshop in your area!
