About us
Each year we help more and more families from title one schools with warm clothing and basic Christmas needs using the following basic principles. Children are recommend by their teachers and facility who notice that they need warm clothing.
* All labor and time is donated. All of our help is donated by family and friends. We do not reimburse for any expenses, including my own.
The extensive work to get 501(c)(3) legal work was donated. The Foundation's website design and logo were all donated.
* The majority of the items are donated or purchased on clearance. We shop during the off season to maximize our budget. We know that everyone works hard for their money and we want to honor that by spending donated money wisely. When we purchase items on clearance, we choose good quality items for usually at least half the cost. Because of this, we can buy twice as many items and provide Christmas to twice as many kids. The items are stored in my basement throughout the year so we pay no storage fees.
* We fill basic needs and provide a simple but nice Christmas. We don't give expensive toys instead we focus on basic needs. We give each child a new coat, boots, gloves, shoes, pants, 2 shirts, a few toys and a filled stocking. The feedback we have received from the children has consistently been that their new winter clothing is the favorite gift.
* We provide a party for the children receiving gifts. We invite the children to a pizza party (pizza is donated) with games and treats. While the children are at the party, the parents can secretly pick up the gifts and take them home. Come Christmas morning the children never know where the gifts came from.
