🎄 Christmas in October at the McMahon Foundation! 🎄

We're excited to host the Lawton Book and Play Club as they kick off their new season!

Presenter Jackie Payne will review Ace Collins's The Stories Behind the Greatest Hits of Christmas. We all know the songs we grew up singing every holiday season, but do we know the stories behind them? 🎶

Jackie now lives in Princeton, Texas, with her husband, but her roots are right here in Oklahoma. A lover of music and quilting, she'll bring the stories to life with vocal and keyboard arrangements of favorites like "Silver Bells," "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "O Holy Night," and more.

It's the perfect way to say goodbye to the summer heat! Wear your Christmas attire and enjoy a free candy cane on us. 🍬

Congratulations to Great Plains Technology Center Foundation on a wonderful scholarship dinner last night! 🎉

It's always heartwarming to hear how an education can change the course of a student's life and help them launch into the truest version of themselves. The stories shared last night were a powerful reminder of why investing in students matters so much.

One of our favorite touches was the silent auction, filled with items made by the students themselves. From the food to the woodworking to the metalwork, every piece showed the skill, creativity, and pride these students bring to their craft. What a meaningful way to put their talent front and center.

Thank you to everyone who made the evening possible, and congratulations to the scholarship recipients. Southwest Oklahoma's future is in good hands! 👏

Happy National Coffee Day! ☕

Some traditions never go out of style. In "Reminiscences and Scrapbook", Louise D. McMahon recalled a wedding celebration:

"After the coffee and ci**rs stage had been reached, the guests were entertained by the orchestra and with musical numbers by some of the friends of the bride and groom."

We'll pass on the ci**rs, but we're raising a cup today to the good company, music, and community gatherings that have brought Southwest Oklahomans together for generations.

Our Board of Trustees meeting schedule has changed for October and November, so our grant submission deadlines for those months have moved later.

Here are the new dates:
➡️ October meeting: submit by Friday, October 9
➡️ November meeting: submit by Monday, November 9

A reminder: our grantmaking process always begins with a Letter of Inquiry. If you're new to the Foundation, please start there.

If you've already submitted, you don't need to do anything. We'll review your request at the meeting that matches its submission date.
